Workers Back Safety needed at your Workplace

Wet Dry Shop vacs are used in factories to collect or pick both solid dust and debris. It is also used to vacuum up the liquids when it is to be moved from one station and stored in another. Most of the shop vacs have a good size of capacity drum to be able to continue the vacuuming operation for some period of time before there is any necessity for emptying the contents. Though, this may improve the productivity but while handling the heavy container, worker may suffer from back injury if proper precautions are not taken. There are couples of things which can prevent you from back injury when handling shop vacs with the containers full of solid and liquid material.

The very first cardinal precaution that one needs to take while moving these full or semi-full drum is to wear a proper back support such as braces and other safety gear. Addition to it, a proper body posture should be maintained on lifting of heavy objects. These two precautions are very important to keep in mind and practice while working.

Another thing which can be done is to empty the container before it gets full and the shop vac float speeds up the motor and hear a loud sound. You can alternately transfer the contents of two separate loads and after that lift or carry each half full container. This way the load will be reduced.

Another alternative would be is to develop a sling fixture and move the heavy drum using a cherry picker lift or a forklift. This is a good alternative because a mechanical device is used in lifting and moving the heavy containers rather than human operating it.

Preventing worker from back injury is of prime importance to any employer or the company. Hazwoper training is a safety program provided by the government to ensure workplace safety to the workers whose work involves handling of hazardous materials. This safety training program is now available online too.
